Simple tips for fitting hand-dipped beeswax candlesticks into candle holders
A beautiful candle holder and a natural beeswax candle should fit together effortlessly but in reality, sometimes they need a little help.
From time to time, customers ask us how to fit our thin beeswax candlesticks into our Small Sandstone Candle Holder. We had these holders designed specifically for customers that were looking for something to fit our Hanukkah, Chakra, and Thin Taper candles but, because our candles are handcrafted, the base is occasionally slightly wider than the opening of the holder.

The good news is that beeswax is naturally soft and workable, which makes it easy to adjust the base for a perfect fit.
Here are a few simple tips to help:
1. Warm the Base of the Candle in Your Hands
With these small candles, the easiest solution is often to simply warm the base of the candle.
Hold the bottom of the candle in your hand for a few moments to soften the beeswax slightly. Once it warms up, gently press and twist the candle into the holder. The base will compress just enough to fit securely.
2. Create a Slight Taper (If Needed)
If the candle is still a bit too snug, you can create a very slight taper at the base.
Run the bottom of the candle under warm water for a few seconds to soften the wax. Then place it on a counter or tabletop and gently roll the base with light pressure. This narrows the bottom slightly and helps the candle slide easily into the holder.
3. Insert and Twist
Once the base is softened or slightly tapered, insert the candle into the holder and gently twist as you press down. This helps create a secure fit without too much force.
A Note on Our Process
Our dipped beeswax candlesticks which include our Chakra, Hanukkah, Thin Taper, and Birthday/Gala candles are handcrafted using a traditional dipping process. This can result in slight variations in diameter from candle to candle and is part of the charm and uniqueness of hand-dipped candles.
If you’re looking for a more consistent fit for larger candle holders, our molded beeswax candlesticks including Tapers, Bases, Tubes, and Columns are hand-poured to a uniform size, making them perfect when you need that extra precision—while still offering the same warm glow and quality you expect from Honey Candles.
The flexibility of beeswax makes adjustments quick and easy when required, and the tacky nature of our wax means that once the candle is seated in the holder, it should stay firmly in place.
