Beeswax Candles for Earth Hour 2017

beeswax candle earth hourFor several years, around our globe, millions of people, businesses, and landmarks set aside an hour to host events, switch off their lights, and make their voices be heard for climate change action. This year the event known as Earth Hour is Saturday March 25th 8:30 to 9:30.

When employees of Honey Candles switch off the power, not surprisingly they usually reach for a beeswax candle. I asked a few of our employees which candles they would likely be lighting this Earth Hour. A few couldn’t decide but Leslie says that she loves the candlesticks. It might be a 6 inch Column but really she likes all our candlesticks. This is probably a good choice for a one hour power outage. Candlesticks are great because they can be burned successfully for either 5 minutes or several hours. This is not true for some of our other candles that need to be burned longer periods for optimal burning.

Lorna said she would normally burn tealights. She likes that they are in little cups. Lorna was the Honey Candles tealight maker for years so I think she has a fondness for them.

I have a little bit of everything at home. I could burn a beeswax pillar or a candlestick. I have a lovely Honey Candles® beeswax Violet Fluted Sphere. Like Lorna one of my favorites is probably a tealight. So that is maybe what I will burn on the evening of March 25th.

What to do when the lights go out? We would like to suggest meditating through that quiet time. For that you may enjoy a little 6 inch Gala candle. It burns 45 minutes so won’t get you through the entire hour, but I think you will agree it is oh so pretty!

What are your plans for Earth Hour 2017?

I had the good fortune to be hired at Honey Candles in the fall of 2004. Experience managing a small rural printing business and 15 years as an elected public school trustee has been a benefit as Honey Candles moves through the need for flexibility and the demands of rapidly changing natural products marketing. I am the Sales Manager and most likely to be the one answering the phone when you call. Social Media and blogging for Honey Candles has been a recent addition to my list of skills.
