Contrary to Popular Belief

Contrary to Popular Belief

There are a few myths about Honey Candles® and we believe it is time to set the record straight.

Myth #1: There is honey in Honey Candles®
There is no honey in beeswax! Honeybees produce beeswax inside their bodies. It is extruded from special glands on their abdomens.  The bees then use the wax to build honeycomb for storing their honey. It is during the storing process that the wax takes on the sweet aroma.

Myth #2: All beeswax candles are “Honey Candles”
False! Honey Candles® is our identity - we have registered our Honey Candles® Trademark. Many people are under the impression that since a candle is made from beeswax it is a “Honey Candle” but this is not true.  We are the only real Honey Candles® out there.

honey beesMyth #3: We are Sunshine Bay Natural Products
We are no longer Sunshine Bay Natural Products, (SBNP). As of last year, we are known solely as Honey Candles Ltd. SBNP was established when we distributed products for other natural product companies in the Kootenay region. We no longer distribute and we only sell the products we manufacture ourselves: Honey Candles® and Jin Sticks® Incense.

Myth #4: Candles can only be colored with toxic chemicals
At Honey Candles® we pride ourselves on being a natural product company so we can promise you that our colored candles are toxin free. To make our beautiful colored candles, we use Enviro-Dye, which means none of the ingredients are on California’s Proposition 65 list of cancer causing agents.

If you have more unanswered myths about beeswax, the company, or beeswax candles let us know and we will bust it!

I had the good fortune to be hired at Honey Candles in the fall of 2004. Experience managing a small rural printing business and 15 years as an elected public school trustee has been a benefit as Honey Candles moves through the need for flexibility and the demands of rapidly changing natural products marketing. I am the Sales Manager and most likely to be the one answering the phone when you call. Social Media and blogging for Honey Candles has been a recent addition to my list of skills.
