Making Time for Relaxation during the Holidays

The holiday season is one of the most joyful and exciting times of the year, but the hubbub of shopping, decorating, baking, and socializing can come at a cost – it can become exhausting and leave you feeling overwhelmed if not balanced with times of rest and relaxation. This year try to dedicate time to unwind and take a break from the chaos with activities that help you relax and recharge in the ways that work best for you.

A great way to relax and re-energize is by spending time outside. With the arrival of cooler weather, you may feel tempted to hole up inside, but bundling up and getting some fresh air is great for the body and soul. Whether it’s partaking in your favourite snow sport like skiing, snowshoeing or skating, or spending some family time outside crafting snowmen, tobogganing, or having a snowball fight, try to dedicate lots of time to outside activities during the holidays.

For the particularly wet or frosty days when you can’t face the great outdoors, bring your relaxation inside. When life gets busy, nothing is quite as calming as a bubble bath accompanied by Tealight Candles and paired with a glass of wine or cup of tea. Or try setting aside an hour for yoga. Turn down the lights, put your phone away and let the meditative Chakra Candlesticks serve as your clock so you are free from distraction and technology for a short time.

Relaxing moments during Christmas look different to each one of us, you might be partial to baking cookies, building a puzzle or watching a Christmas movie. For me it’s turning out all the lights except the ones on the Christmas tree, lighting some beeswax Votives, and quietly listening to Christmas music, giving my eyes and mind a break. What’s your favourite way to slow down during the holidays?
