Save the Bees Program 2016

honey beesThe Honey Candles® Save the Bees Program has chosen to donate the designated $2.00 collected from sales of our Peek-A-Bee Pillar in the last year to the University of Guelph Honey Bee Research Centre.

The University of Guelph Honey Bee Centre is taking part in research that is known internationally. They have a great little video about honey bees. You will find out what social creatures honey bees are and how vulnerable they are to pests and disease. Honey bees are experiencing threats to their survival in many ways due to land use decisions and climate change. The researchers have over 300 hives they are using for research and they obviously care and love the bees. The research they do in bee health, genetics and behavior contribute to the important components in training and educational programs. Honey bees are our most important pollinator and we are grateful for the research being done in Guelph. Without the honey bees our dinner plates would not be nearly as interesting or nutritious as we like and Honey Candles® would not be able to continue making the beeswax candles we do.

If you would like to know how you can be part of the Honey Candles® Save the Bees program and help fund this important research go this link.
