It’s Earth Day on April 22nd. This Earth Day we would like you to think about the honey bees. North America alone has lost 35% of our honey bee colonies in the past several years from inadequate hive health that has resulted in Colony Collapse Disorder, (CCD.) This is serious. Without the honey bees we would be without most of our fruit, vegetables or nuts.
A few years ago Honey Candles initiated the first “Save the Bees” Promotional Campaign. It was a very successful venture. For every Peek-a-Bee sold in Canada Honey Candles® donated $2 to the Canadian Honey Council to go towards honey bee research to find ways to save our bees. We wanted to support American honey bee research as well so for every Peek-a-Bee sold in the United States Honey Candles donated $2 to The Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees for this purpose. In 2011 Honey Candles sent $1,696 to the Canadian Honey Council and $526 to the Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees to further honey bee research. That means we sold 848 Peek-a-Bee Pillars in Canada and 263 in the United States that year.
We are very proud of that accomplishment and would like to re-launch the “Save the Bees” Promotional Campaign in 2013 for Earth Day! We have had lots of requests from stores who love the idea.
Once again we are giving Honey Candles® lovers the opportunity to defend our honey bees. What better 2013 Earth Day project for all beeswax candle users and supporters? So starting now $2 from every purchase of the Peek-a-Bee Pillar will go towards funding the necessary research to save our bees. Help us do even better this year!
